German Cucumber Salad

2 large cucumbers

1 small onion, thinly sliced

1/4 cup white vinegar

1/4 cup water

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped

Peel the cucumbers and slice them thinly.

In a mixing bowl, combine the cucumber slices and thinly sliced onion.

In a separate small bowl, whisk together white vinegar, water, sugar, salt, and freshly ground pepper until the sugar and salt are fully dissolved.

Pour the vinegar mixture over the cucumbers and onions, tossing gently to coat.

Stir in the chopped fresh dill.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving, allowing the flavors to meld.
